Everyone has been made for some particular work, and the desire for that work has been put in every heart. —Rumi

About Jessie

Jessie Peck Martin, M. Ed., founder of CompassU, earned a bachelor of science degree in marketing and a master’s degree in education from Lehigh University (Go, Brown and White!). She launched CompassU Educational Consulting in 2014, bringing with her 25 years of experience in both classrooms and educational publishing. That summer, she attended the Summer Training Institute: Educational Consulting Practices and Principles held at Swarthmore College and conducted by the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). In 2019 Jessie was named a professional member of IECA and a member of the New Jersey Association of College Admissions Counselors (NJACAC). Jessie visits an average of twenty colleges and schools annually. She also meets with admissions officers and colleagues and attends national conventions to stay up to date on the ever-shifting landscape of admissions.

When she is not meeting with students Jessie is busy raising four children (and, so far, has launched two college graduates [University of Chicago ’18, Lehigh University ’19] and cheers her son on the slopes at boarding school [Stratton Mountain School ’22]), enjoying a yoga class here and there with her middle-school aged daughter, caring for a sweet and needy Vizsla and a feisty cat, and volunteering extensively around northwest New Jersey. When not coaching alpine ski racing or running his business, husband, Dave, is often an innocent bystander to the chaos.

About Natalie

Natalie Martin joined CompassU officially in 2019 but has been chiming in with savvy essay advice since the beginning. Natalie is a recent graduate from Lehigh University, she graduated with Honors with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Health, Medicine and Society. She enjoys working with students who have a passion for STEM and business aspirations. In her free time, Natalie likes to travel, ski, and spend quality time with her two dogs.

Jessie made the whole college application process stress free for two of my children. She provided timelines, guidance, and support, making what can be an overwhelming undertaking, one that can be navigated with ease. I recommend Jessie 100% when it comes time to begin your college search.
